We understand that trying something new can be intimidating, especially if you’re not sure what to expect. That’s why we’ve put together this guide to help you feel prepared and confident for your first Jiu Jitsu class.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
First things first, come dressed in comfortable workout clothes such as shorts or leggings and a t-shirt. We provide a clean and safe training environment, so there’s no need to worry about bringing a gi or any other equipment to your first class.
When you arrive, our friendly staff will greet you and help you sign in. You’ll then be introduced to your instructor, who will give you a quick orientation and answer any questions you may have..
WARM UP
After that, you’ll join the rest of the class for a warm-up and some basic exercises to get your body moving. This may include jogging, stretching, and calisthenics to prepare you for the techniques you’ll be learning.
TECHNIQUE
Next, your instructor will demonstrate and break down a few techniques for you to practice with a partner. Don’t worry if you don’t get it right away – Jiu Jitsu takes time and practice to master.
LIGHT ROLLING
Throughout the class, you’ll be paired with other students of similar skill levels to practice techniques and engage in light rolling sessions. This is where you’ll start to see the practical application of the techniques you’ve learned.
COOL DOWN
At the end of class, there will be a cool-down period and a chance to ask any final questions. We encourage you to take advantage of this time to connect with your instructor and fellow students.
CONCLUSION
Remember, everyone has to start somewhere, and your first Jiu Jitsu class is just the beginning of your journey. We strive to create a welcoming and supportive community where students of all ages and skill levels can learn and grow together. Join us today and discover the many benefits of Jiu Jitsu!
